Abby Patterson is currently employed as the Program Manager for the Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Program at Prevent Child Abuse Iowa. For the past 3 years, she has specialized in working with programs that enhance parenting skills and reduce the risk of children experiencing abuse and neglect by promoting protective factors. She has worked towards education and policy changes to eliminate child sexual abuse by reducing risks in child-serving environments and providing education to adults, with an emphasis on adult responsibility for keeping children safe. Prior to working at Prevent Child Abuse Iowa, Abby specialized working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and brain injuries in a community-based setting, with a focus on building independence. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Iowa State University. She serves on the Iowa Family Support Leadership Group and the Iowa Domestic and Sexual Assault Prevention Advisory Group. Abby also is a member of her local preschool board and is married with an 8-year-old daughter, 5-year-old son, and a 12-year-old yellow lab.
